Charlie Hicks

Charlie Hicks was born and raised in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He started his radio career at KBBC in Lake Havasu in the summer of 1993 working for Arizona Broadcasting Hall of Famer, Lee Shoblom. That continued every summer while Charlie attended Northern Arizona University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Electronic Media.

After graduating from NAU in 1997, Charlie went to work for KZGL in Flagstaff where he worked his way up from weekend overnights to eventually become the Program Director and Host of Hicks in the Morning. During this time Charlie also took a job working weekends at 98KUPD in Phoenix.

In 2001 Charlie moved to Yuma, AZ and took a job as the Sports Director and Anchor at KSWT-CBS 13. The following year Charlie moved to Bakersfield, CA where he helped create, executive produce and co-anchor the morning news show Daybreak on KBAK-CBS 29.

In 2005 Charlie took some time off to travel in Europe. While he was gone he received an email from one of his former professors at NAU asking if he would be interested in spending a year teaching Broadcasting. Charlie accepted the offer and has been teaching at NAU since the Fall of 2005. Charlie also returned to 98KUPD in 2005 where he worked until December of 2010. At NAU, among other things, Charlie has been the Faculty Adviser for the student run radio station KJACK and he is currently one of the Faculty Advisers and a Community Anchor for the partially student produced television newscast NAZ Today.

Charlie became the host of Flagstaff Mornings in June of 2011 and is excited to be working with a great team, on a great station, KAFF AM 930. Friend Charlie on Facebook at and follow Charlie on Twitter @kcharliehicks.
